Week Commencing: Sat 13/10/2018

Another week commences at Gigantica. The Nights are drawing in, and the days are getting shorter, clear sunny days were forecast for the week and the day time temperatures are going to be around 15 degrees. That’s going to make it nice and warm throughout the day, but its going down to a chilly 3 degrees at night.

Phillip Loach decided to go into The Alamo, and spent a good hour having a plumb around with his marker rod, and found a nice area at 28 wraps in-line with Bob’s Beach. Phillip baited the area with 6kg of Sticky Baits Krill Boilies and adding an extra 5kg every day. He had a total of six fish for the week, which include two Stockies that were introduced to the Main Lake in 2016, the first was “Paris” at 38lb and the second one was “Hector” at 38lb 8oz, both of these went in at around 12lb that’s an amazing weight gain over a short amount of time. Phillips biggest carp was “The Peach” at 47lb 8oz, and to back these up he had “Epicano” at 37lb 8oz, “The Spam” at 36lb 8oz, and “The Victory Fish” at 27lb 8oz. All of his fish came on a KD Rig with a 12” supple hook link and a Krill Wafter as his hook bait.

Mark Smith was fishing in Alcatraz, he found a nice hard area at 28 wraps in-line with The Stink, so he decided to have all three rods on that spot. Mark baited the area with 8kg of Sticky Baits Krill boilies. The next Morning, he was into a cracking mirror known as “Mr Tong” which went 44lb. He was using a Multi Rig with a Krill Pop-Up as his hook bait. Towards the end of the week he also had a small Stockie.

Dean Ellis went into Co’s Point, he was fishing all three rods at 28 wraps. Dean baited the area with 8kg of Royal Marine Boilies, and it didn’t take long before he was into his first fish of the session, a 22lb Stockie. Dean topped up his area with another 8kg boilies, then on Wednesday he goes and lands “The Leney” at 44lb 4oz which fell to a KD Rig with a double 16mm boilie bottom bait. He also had a couple of Stockies towards the end of the week.

Steve Barr went into Scottie's Corner, and decided to fish two rods along the margin and the other rod was cast just to the left of the swim at 10 wraps, he baited each area with 4 kg of RG Baits The Formula. Steve had a couple stockies at the start of the week, then on Thursday he lands “The Cod” at 38lb. Steve was using a Simple Blow back rig snowman style with a RG baits boilies tipped with a white pop up.

Eric Hintzen was set up in The Stink, he was fishing towards the Corner of the tree line in-line with the Tall popular tree at 15 wraps. Eric baited the area with 5kg of Mainline Baits Link Boilies. On Sunday morning he was into a 26lb mirror not long after that he lands a 22lb mirror. There were loads of fish showing at around 100 yards so Eric decided to put out three Zigs all at different depths just to see if he could catch a bigger fish, but after no action he went back to fishing on the bottom for the night. On the last morning he goes and lands a small stockie.

Well that’s it for another week here at Gigantica.
