Week Commencing: Sat 23/10/2021

It is that time of year when the lake is invaded by the Vikings A.K.A the Danish trip and with a reputation of being big casters their approach is a little different from the usual anglers on the Main Lake with long distance and large hook baits being the order of the week. The weather has been a lot more settled over the last few days and the day and night temperatures are looking good. We always look forward to this week in the calendar as they are a great bunch and the guys know how to make the most of the time here.

We will kick start the week with Peder Lichtenberg after dropping into The Stink it he seemed to have pulled out the golden ticket after spending time finding a clean spot at 31 wraps towards the left-hand side of beach he proceeded to bait the area with 22mm Dt Nblend and presented a 22mm bottom bait on a combi rig over the top. After a long week previous spent on the Orient I think he was hoping to get some shut eye but the fish had other plans with him having to collect more retainers in the night and four fish waiting to be photographed the following morning he certainly didn’t get much sleep not that he was complaining especially as one of the looked to be an Absolut unit of a dark mirror so with the breakfast delivered and the boys all around for the photos it was time to find out what one it is and as soon as we opened the sling it was obvious it was the Target on its second appearance in the last three weeks tipping the scales to 72lb on the nose as if that wasn’t enough he backed it up with three others including the Tank at 43lb and they just kept coming averaging 4 fish every morning you would think his week couldn’t get any better but playing the numbers game it was only a matter of time before he landed another of the big girls this time it was Chunky at 78lb 8oz. what a week Peder has had landing 22 fish in total including 2 x 70s 3 x 50s with The Up Front Common, Lennie’s and Mr Chow and 4 x 40s an absolute mega weeks fishing.

Anders Frenk (The Gentle Giant) also managed to get amongst them fishing 34 Wraps out of The AlamoAnders found a nice horseshoe shaped clean patch Also using the DT-Nbled 22mm boilies he baited the area with a combination of using the spom and some baits spread over the spot with the throwing stick using a matching hook bait with a topper presented on a Combi rig he got straight in on the action with a take within the first 30 minuets with Shmoking @ 37lb unlike Peder in the swim next door most of his bites were coming around dinner time into late evening. Anders managed 13 fish throughout the week with the biggest being Snags Linear at 54lb 4oz he backed this up with The rudder @ 47lb and The Pearly linear @ 44lb.

Morten Petersen fished Co’s Point and dropped onto a clear spot at 28 wraps it was a slow start for Morten with Peder picking up the fish to his left he could only hope he would pick the odd one off and his persistence paid off with the Slate grey @ 54lb 12oz falling to a DT-Nblend bottom bait topped with a yellow topper. This proved to be his only bite of the week but what a fish and at a new top weight too.

Martin Kov jumped into Oblivion and with the fish showing out to his right he dropped on the spot at 28 wraps at the big tree left of beach and after baiting the spot with DT-Nblend and a mix of Maize he started to pick off a few bites each evening however the big girls eluded him with his biggest of the week being The Wood Carving at 38lb a stunning scaled mirror.

With nearly all of the swims doing bites throughout the week everyone managed to get a chance of a fish or two and the guys had a great week and a good laugh.
