The Swallow’s

This week seemed a much better week, not much had changed weather wise but the hatch had seemed to stopped. The swallows had gone, and fish were back on the feed. And some stunning fish were caught all over the pond. The fish being very active all week had people on edge but the anglers who stuck to their guns were the anglers who caught.

First of we have Daz Watkins in Alcatraz, Daz fished well all week, fishing 33 wraps towards the scary tree right of big southerly. He managed to land four fish the biggest being the Night Watchman at 43lb 4oz. Daz kept the bait going daily around 25 spombs after dinner knowing this was the best time to feed with bite time being at first light. The bites were coming between first light and mid-day so making sure the rods are in the water ready for this time is very important. Fishing spinners over the top of crushed boilie corn and flaked maize got him the bites.

Jez Westgarth made his way to big girls and caught steadily all week mostly very small stocky’s but he did manage stargazer at 40lb 1oz. again getting the bait in the night before work well for Jez and not re casting the rods after he had a bite also helped him get a second bite some morning. Jez was fishing spinners over boilie.

Regular Ian Oakwell come out ball number one and surprisingly went for Big Southerly not a first choice of swim for many anglers but in true Ian form he manged to pull two out the bag, with Squeaky Clean being the biggest at 41lb. A very sort after linear that gets everyone excited! Ian was fishing to the 25 wrap spot towards Alcatraz with bog standard hair rigs with bottom baits over the top of boilie.

Ian Smith in Alamo fished hard all week and on the final day he managed to pull out Shmokin at 42lb, again keeping to his spots got him his bite. Ian decided to fish short in Alamo after seeing the fish there on the first day, only 15 wraps towards Beach. Fishing combi rigs with wafters over hemp and maize got him the bite.

Son of Ian, Andrew Smith was in Oblivion also fished very well all week after seeing the fish to his right he decided to fish for them where they were and manged to land three in total, Mr Universe being the biggest at 34lb 2oz. Andrew was fishing 25wraps towards Baxter’s with spinners over the top of mix maize and hemp with boilie.

Adam Boschi finally manged to break the ice in Beach and land Tosh’s at 35lb 10oz. a very tricky swim all winter with only a stocky and a tench since November time so a very well done to him. Adam managed to land his fish on a roving Zig 13ft of the bottom.

And finally, our very own Joe the bailiff managed to get his rods out in Stock Pond and land two of the new stocky’s. Joe was fishing solid bags to gaps in the treeline where he saw fish showing.

With a bit of luck, hopefully one of the begins soon slips up and I’m sure it wont be long. We can all hope!

Until next time

Tight lines

Ben
