Week Commencing: Sat 10/06/2023

HOT HOT HOT !!

With the temps blazing into the 30s who knew what the week was going to bring, 12 anglers on for the week  with a few new faces and with the fish now stopped spawning it was going to be an interesting one.

Let’s kick the week of with top rod Jiri fishing from pole position, he didn’t hang around and was straight into baiting up at 28 wraps towards the scary tree with straight link boilies 18mm heavily soaking in fish smart liquid. He left it till going dark to deploy his 3 rods on the spot with D-rig with match the hatch style wafters when he had 2 fish landing come the morning… what a result for the 1st night and his 1sttime at Gigantica. A mirror of 27lb and common of 25lb for his efforts put a smile on his face on Sunday morning, despite the serious heat we had this week Jiri kept at it hard with the bait going on still feeding a lot of hole boilies he manage to land ‘Sashsquats’ at 45lb 2oz’ massively spawned out but who cares when they look as good as that, another banger for Jiri was ‘ Wood Carving’ at 37lb 2oz and ‘Mr Tong’ at 47lb, Jiri managed another 5 fish to round out bag of carp taking him to 10 fish for the week and a few bangers to say the least, 30kg of link used in 18mm glugged heavily with fish smart liquid done him the do, good angling mate.

Next up we had Matt and his Mr’s who picked out ball one an set there sites on Scotties corner, fishing the usual spot to the weed bed at 17.5 wraps just 2 rods he was in to his first just after we delivered dinner on the Saturday night before shortly losing it to a hook pull, by the morning had swung round matt told me on breakfast run he’d lost another 2 fish in the night!.... his look did finally turn his way when he slipped the net under ‘Rob’s Rig’  in the middle of the day weighing in at massively spawned out 49lb 12oz. solid bagapproach all week banked matt a few more fish up to 39lb, staying on for a 2nd week so let’s see where he ends up next week.

My ole pal Phil Brown and his wife Sandra joined us on there 1st trip of the year and this one being his 18th trip in total !!. Bob’s beach was where he found himself and a this being a new swim for him, starting off fishing out to the Boulders between stink and the Alamo at 21 wraps with his go too IQ D-rig feeding house pellet lightly just to try and get the spot rocking, it was soon Tuesday before he pushed out to his boundary at 29 wraps and went in heavy with 5kg of fish meal boilies shortly after was rewarded with his 1st bite of the week and was he was fortunate to name ‘Missy Brown’ at 30lb. the stunner known as ‘Apple Slices’ followed at 44lb 6oz and then finishing off with ‘Fifi’ at 30lb 14oz, D-rigs with wafters done the damage for Phil after a tricky start to the week fishing tightly over his bed of boilies.

A new face in the name of Malcom Bell we welcomed to Gigantica this week coming out early in the draw he went with Alcatraz as his swim of choice, Mainline pva bag mixwith a standard hair size 2 wide gape with SSM as the hook bait, 21 wraps to the right of big suv baiting with Cell Boilies and sweetcorn baiting up in the middle of the day brought Malcom his 1st fish and smashing his current PB out the park it was ‘Buzzing Fish’ at 57lb 14oz, it didn’t end there for Malc he manage another 3 fish for the week to 40lb.

Well round in Big Suv this was like being trapped in a sauna so I did feel a little bit sorry for Mike who set out in there, but the whole entire stock of the lake seemed like they was sun bathing in there so he was raring to go. The fish didn’t seem to hang around there long before they done the of an it wasn’t till mid-week when he got his first take in the middle of the night and after a slow and steady battle him manage to bank his new PB of ‘Tank’ at 39lb so that was smiles all round!. The usual spot to the left of traz at 25.5 wraps using combi rigs with SSM slipped this Common up, feeding house particle all week with boilie Crum and chops was mikes baiting approach.

Another banger graced the bank this week coming from mark in  the treeline with fish known as ‘Pebbles’ at 37lb and his 1st gigantic carp. Usual spod mix consisting of house mix particle and solid bags over the top grabbed him the bite from 21 wraps up his left margin. That was marks only bite of the week but he was made up with it.

The fish was spawning in the weed bed short in front of the Alamo the previous week and with them now stopped doing there thing we had Dave Martin in there fishing short in there 12 wraps using solid bags, after fish being all over him it was only a matter of time before he finally got amongst them and it was the ‘unatended’ at 46lb was his reward. After a few more days passed with plenty of fish in front of him it was later on in the week he managed one more bite ‘woods common’ at 49lb throwing sticking link boilies at 12 wraps to left of the beach was the one for Dave with solid bags over the top.

Me and Korda’s very own Gino manged to sneak a few nights in throughout the week, I landed a small common at 23lb from stock pond fishing 26.5 wraps to the pipes with size 4 spinner rigs over particle whilst Gino on the other hand had a 5 fish haul in Oblivion with the biggest being ‘The Centurian’ at 44lb 8oz. picture was a laugh between me and gino with the full sun beaming of his shiny head!! Sorry mate had to mention that. Straight boilie for G baiting 3kg essential cell each day at 30 wraps between Baxter’s an the beach fishing his go to D-rig with match the hatch wafters over the top.

Overall it was a really good week with fish coming out all over the place it was a slow start to the week but that was expected with the fish spawning the week previous, it was nice to get a few European anglers on for the week being the three lads with Jiri from the Czech republic on there 1stGigantic experience and they all went home with a smile on there face. Week in week out the solid bags are producing plenty of bites so for sure I would be following up on this in the next few week whilst we get over the spawning period…

But for now it was a pleasure guys,

All the best,

Joe.
