Week Commencing: Sat 17/06/2023

Rain, Rain And More Rain!

Well, what a week that was as you can tell by the title we had a bit of rain. It wasn’t raining all the time but when it did it came down like it does in the Amazon! And it came with thunder a lighting, it came every evening for 4 days in a row. But that didn’t stop the anglers from catching unfact it was a very good week. Almost all anglers caught and there was some special ones amongst them! Majority of the bites came from last light to 10:00pm but most were caught at first light!

First we have David Raine, David really fancied Scotties Corner it was his sort of fishing so it was the swim for him and he managed to get in there. And what a week he had landing 15 fish in total with the biggest being “Spence’s” At 67lb 14oz, he also had “Moony” at 39lb 6oz. Tactic wise it couldn’t get any simpler, German Rigs, size 4 wide gapes with a match the hatch wafter and a 4 bait stringer, fishing over the top of Atlantic Heat boilies, put out with a throwing stick. He got through approximately 20kg. Fishing 60 yards to the weed bed just of the side of Co’s.

Tomi Dvorsak The Crazy Austrian! This was Tomi’s second trip to Gigantica First time on his 30th and now on his 50th birthday. Tomi didn’t manage to catch on his 30th but he defiantly made up for it in Stink on this trip, landing some of the Gigantica’s finest carp! One being the “Spotty Leather” at 63lb 8oz and another being “The Long Common” at 56lb 4oz, he also landed another 3 fish between them. Tomi was fishing 27 wraps towards the V in the trees left of Baxter’s. Tomi started off with 10kg of 12mm, 16mm, 20mm boilies, pellet and crushed boilie. He kept this topped up throughout the week. He was fishing I.Q D-Rigs and Combi rigs, size 4 wide gapes with 16mm and 8mm snowmen over the top!

Dave Manning in Co’s went from doom and gloom to feeling like a super star after a couple of alterations, Dave started of fishing the favoured spot at 31 wraps but after 4 nights of blanking he pulled back shorter to where he was seeing them at 28 wraps towards the two tits, he then sadly dropped 3 on the bounce so a quick change to a size 4 Kamakura wide gape and he then manged to land a total of 11 fish. “Baby Wald” at 52lb 4oz along side “Alcatraz” at 49lb just to name a couple. Dave was fishing spinners with match the hatch wafter over the top of Atlantic Heat boilies, Pellet and mixed hemp and maize.

Adrian Burret AKA Buzz came out first in the draw and picked Alamo, Buzz had a good week fishing 30 wraps just left of Beach and he managed to catch 9 fish in total, with the “Baby Wald” at 56lb and one of our super stockies “Robs Rig” at 49lb 12oz. Buzz was keeping all things tight with 3 rods on one spot fishing solid bags over the top of bait works Royal Marine alongside hemp and maize a total of 20 kg of boilie and 10kg of particle.

Andy Grenfell made a good choice to go in the recent flyer Pole Position, Andy started his week of slow at 28 wraps and things wernt going to well with blowing up a rod on his birthday also didn’t help. But after a beer and keeping head strong he pulled back to 20 wraps right of the scary tree and he started to catch steady every morning! He ended the week on 12 fish the biggest being “Foreign Legion” at 40lb 8oz. All fish fell to Stiff Hinges with Squid Goode pop ups over a bed of N-Blend boilies, house pellet and plenty of liquids.

Christopher Kally Managed a few from Alcatraz fishing 25 wraps towards big southerly he managed to catch two on the deck and one on a 8ft zig with black foam, the biggest being Wood’s Common at 43lb 6oz. Chris was feeding boilie house maize and hemp with spinners with wafters over the top.

Dan Andrews in Big girls had a steady week landing 7 fish with the biggest being a 38lb 14oz common. Most fish came early hours of the morning so having bait and rods in position at last light was very important in this swim. Dan focused on two spots, the inlet at 21 wraps and the spit at 26 wraps. Dan was feeding 2.5kg of pellet Maize and link boilies over each spot every evening. Size 4 I.Q D-rigs with cell wafters and slow sinking maize toppers got him his bites.

Matt Berale came out 8th in the draw and went for Big Southerly. Matt started of fishing all 3 rods out at 90 yards towards pole position and left the 14 wrap margin spot for a few days just feeding. He went in heavy feeding 10-15kg of boilie, maize and hemp per a night, he managed 3 on his long spot and one down the left on the 14 wrap spot. The biggest being “shomkin” at 30lb 12oz. Matt was using solid bags with little dumbbell wafters topped with a single grain of fake maize.

Iskren Tomov was in Baxter’s Hole started of fishing the go to spot at 25 wraps towards the pole but after a few days of no action he dropped shot at 21 wraps and managed to land 3 fish going to 36lb. Iskren was using size 4 D-Rigs over abed of house boilie maize and hemp with 15/18mm boilie.

Tobias Feinchinger fished out of stock pond had a very tough week but he still managed to bag a couple. First fish was Snacker at 18lb 2oz caught from the 27 wrap spot towards the corner. And the other being a 25lb common was caught straight out at 17.5 wraps. Tobi start of fishing solid bags but then moved onto a size  4 combi with a snowman.

My self I was in Treeline I fished 21 wraps and 1 foot up the margin, 21 wraps out towards stink in deeper water and one to my right short at 13.5 wraps the left hand rod produced 2 fish one being “3rd Time Lucky” at 37lb 12oz and the other being a upper 20 mirror. The middle rod didn’t produce at all but the right did a fish known as “Ugloe” at 39lb 14oz. I was using solid bags on the right and a spinner on the left, fake maize on the hair. Feeding wise a fed boilie over the open water spot approximately 15kg all week and up the margin on the right I fed hemp and maize.

That’s all for this week, very busy all in all and hopefully it continues. Very warm weather coming so bring protection, and just to make you all aware due to high water temps there will be no more sacking of fish, so photos must be done straight away. Anything caught through the night under 40lb its up to you to do self takes so the bailiffs can get a bit of kip and anything above 40lb you must call your bailiff out and he will come straight away to take pictures for you! Then anything throughout the day the bailiff will do the photos of all fish.

Until Next Time
