Superhero French!

Its been a mega week this week with some of the very rare ones coming out! The fish seem to be in short and night and out long in the day, something to keep in mind in these next coming months as the fish are on their autumn feed up.

First off we had the pleasure of having Steve French back and he managed to land in his first choice of swim, Big Southerly. Steve started his week of fishing one short at 12 wraps towards the headland and two out long straight at Alcatraz. 60 spomb’s of boilie was sent out on his long spot on his first day and good few kilo with the stick on his short spot. The following morning i was around Big Suv taking pics of the very rare “Sovigne” at 58lb 4oz and another 42lber in the name of “Obelix”, both from his short spot. The following day he manged a hero brace! “Clarky’s” at 71lb 12oz and “Split Pec” at 63lb. Steve went on to catch a few more throughout the week but ended on a high with landing three on the final night “Chinese Common” at 53lb, “Paw Print” at 56Lb 12oz and “Petal” at 48lb. By the end of the week Steve brought all his roads back short at 12 wraps as he only caught the one out long. Steve ended his week landing 9 fish with the biggest being Clarky’s, doing his go to thing, Bags over a very large bed of straight boilie.

Jeff Maskell had a good week in Co’s Point landing 9 fish in total. With this swim being a long-range swim and the fish pushing out long in the days jeff knew he had to keep himself busy. He found his spot at 30 wraps and kept to it all week, keeping the bait going in and catching a couple each day. Most were small stocky’s but he did manage a bit of a lump “Pierre Cardin” at 60lb 8oz. Jeff was feeding a hemp, maize, crushed and whole boilie mix with IQ-D rigs with 2 peace’s of fake maize over the top.

Then we have regular Chris Clarke in pole position. Fishing at 33 wraps towards Stink he managed a total of 5 fish with some very nice ones. “Tank” was the biggest at 52lb, but he did also catch a rare one in the name of “The Almost Nude Fish” at 37lb 11oz. Chris was feeding K2 Boilie with a bit of hemp and maize. Chris did start on bags and caught on bags but as the week went on he changed over to led clips and IQ-D rigs. Chris got through approximately 30kg of boilie and approximately 5kg of maize and hemp. Keeping the bait going in just before bite time helped Chris catch his fish.

Paul in Alamo fished hard all week for one fish, he fished long in the days and short at night. He done this because he could hear them short at night and see them out long in the day, I think this is a great tactic myself but sadly he only managed the one but the one was a good one “The Unatended” at 49lb 6oz. he caught this fish out long at 27 wraps aiming just to the left of beach. He was fishing spinners over a mix of boilie hemp and maize.

Luke Williams started of in stock pond, didn’t feel to comfortable and felt like he had a better chance over in Oblivion and he was rite. Manged 5 for the week with the biggest being “James” at 42lb 8oz. He also caught one of my favourites “The Runt” at 38lb 8oz. Luke was fishing long at 31 wraps to the dome between Baxters and beach. Keeping the bait going in Throughout the day helped him catch his fish, again he was out long so all his bites came within the day. Feeding a mix of pellet maize hemp and boilie with spinners over the top.

My self I was in treeline I manged just the one and a rare one in the name of “Red Belly”. I fished short with all three rods at 16 wraps and fed between 17 and 22 wraps with the throwing stick, I feel I could of caught more if I fed more and fed much longer, the fish were showing just of the side of Co’s I was hoping they would come to me but they didn’t and I feel I could of dragged them to me with bait.

A good week with a good stamp of fish. These next couple of months are nig fish months so hopefully we will see plenty more.

Until next time

Tight lines
