Week Commencing: Sat 02/12/2023

Saved By Alamo

A Very tough week for most this week, the first week of only eight anglers. And I think the fish just went where the anglers weren’t! But a few lads still caught the one or two, but the hero was Chris Cox who was in Alamo. Chris started of long in Alamo at the swims limit at 33 wraps’, he did manage to have one out long but only a small stocky. In the hours of darkness, he could hear them, but they sounded much closer than the long spot. Once daylight broke, he went on to find a shorter spot and he managed to find a nice spot just to the left of beach at 25 wraps. This was the best move Chris done all week because it turned his trip upside down! He managed to land two or three each night thereafter, but the best night was the Thursday where he landed a incredible brace of commons “Classico” at 61lb 14oz and “Lashes” at 59lb 4oz! Chris was feeding hemp and corn with spinners and yellow 12mm pop ups over the top.

Farther and son Paul and Ben Warboys managed one a peace, but it was dad Paul who kicked the week of on the lake by landing one in freezing cold temperatures, -4 when he had the fish and you will be able to see by the photo how cold it was. This was at the start of the week on the first night from stock pond, only a small stocky but in them conditions a very well done. For ben he was in Co’s Point. A great struggle most of the week but he still manged to catch one towards the end, another small stocky but still with the fish moving off to the opposite end he done well to catch the one. Ben was fishing hemp corn and crushed boilie at 30 wraps with slip D Rigs and Paul was fishing 16 wraps towards the pips using the same method.

Moving on the Dave Smedley who fishing in Big suv manged the on “Corporal Punishment” at 34lb 11oz. Dave was fishing towards the hump at 25.5 wrap’s and manged this one early in the week. Dave was feeding hemp corn and crushed boilie with combi rigs over the top.

Dan Taylor started his week of in stink and after a couple of nights he decided to move to Big Girls this did pay off because he manage at stocky at 29lb 15oz. Dan was fishing at 26 wraps towards the spit, feeding by hand from the bank and keeping things quiet definitely help him land one. Big Girls is still producing fish which is a big shock for this time of year, so if you’re coming this winter keep a close eye!

A struggle for most but that’s no surprise when the temps started in the minuses at the start of the week and ended in the mid-teens! But it can only look better for the guy’s next week!

Until next time
